At 10:28 a.m. on July 20, the tunnel in Lishui Development Zone of 204 Provincial Highway, which was undertaken by Jiangxi Construction Engineering Group, officially started. More than 50 people attended the commencement ceremony, including the person in charge of Jiangsu Branch of Jiangxi Construction Engineering Group, Lishui District Transportation Bureau, Development Zone, Urban Construction Group and other relevant leaders.

It is reported that the project is the longest tunnel on the trunk highway in Nanjing, with a total length of 2040 meters, of which the buried section is 1655 meters long, a two-way six-lane first-class highway and urban trunk road standard, with a design speed of 80 km/h and a total investment of about 1.1 billion yuan. It is expected to be completed and opened to traffic in 2023. The Lishui Development Zone section of 204 Provincial Highway was originally a two-way four-lane highway. After it was changed into a tunnel, the traffic efficiency was improved.

The 204 Provincial Highway is a vertical passage in the central and western regions of Jiangsu Province, and it is an important part of the "17 shots" in the planned "One Ring, Seven Horizontal and Seventeen Shoot" trunk highway network. The tunnel starts from Binhuai Avenue in the north and goes south through Changgang Road, Airport Road, Hehua Road, West Extension of Planning Machang Road, Kangfu Road, Yigan River Water, Chengxi Life Road and Yongshou Road in turn. It intersects with Jiaotong West Road and connects with Qifeng Road in the urban area. After the completion of the tunnel, it will better solve the relationship between the provincial highway transit traffic and the internal traffic of OCT, provide a good traffic environment for the development of OCT in Lishui, and promote the development of Lishui City. In addition, Lishui District has built a 119-kilometer-long first-class tourism comprehensive loop. The reconstruction and expansion project of 204 Provincial Highway will directly enhance the influence of the four major urban pastoral leisure and vacation experience areas, namely, Wuxiang Mountain South, Shijiu Fishing Song, Qinhuai Source and Red Li Xiang, and provide great convenience for mass production and operation and comfortable travel.
